Welcome to Green Valley & Sahuarita
Your Gateway to Southern Arizona
Located in the historic Santa Cruz River Valley between the Santa Rita and Tumacacori Mountains, Green Valley and Sahuarita offer a unique mix of small-town charm, rich heritage, and stunning desert beauty, just minutes south of Tucson on I-19.
Rooted in History
Our region’s story begins with the Hohokam people, known for peaceful communities and sophisticated irrigation. Jesuit missionary Eusebio Francisco Kino arrived in 1692, followed by Spanish settlements and later U.S. expansion after the Gadsden Purchase in 1854. The area has seen farming, mining, and Cold War military development, shaping a community proud of its past and future.
Green Valley: Relaxed Living with Rich History
Founded in 1964 as a retirement destination, Green Valley offers sunshine, healthcare, golf, shopping, and outdoor recreation all within the historic San Ignacio de las Canoa Land Grant. It’s a vibrant place to live, visit, and explore.
Sahuarita: Where Growth Meets Heritage
Incorporated in 1994, Sahuarita has grown from farmland into a family-friendly town with strong roots. Home to the Titan Missile Museum and FICO’s 6,000-acre pecan orchard, it blends history with innovation and community pride.
