On May 9, 2017 the Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce Foundation held its annual awards dinner at the Quail Creek Country Club Banquet Room. The Foundation currently has four (4) college freshmen and four (4) college sophomores receiving scholarships. These eight (8) have now been joined by four (4) Sahuarita High School and Walden Grove graduates who are moving on to pursue higher education. These scholarships are for $2,000.00 each spread out over four (4) years. Awards of excellence were also awarded to outstanding 8th grade students from Great Expectations Academy, Continental School, Anza Trail Middle School and Sahuarita Middle School for $100.00 each. Recipients of these scholarships and awards of excellence are selected by both the teachers and principals of their respective schools.
These scholarships/awards are made possible by a generous donation from the owner of the local Best Western. Kelly Cooper, General Manager of the Best Western Green Valley was present on behalf of the owner for the 2017 Donor Acknowledgements.
Joe Erceg, President/CEO GVSCC gave the Invocation.
